Spinal Mobility Is Stealing Your Glute Gains

Spinal mobility is amazing… until it starts stealing your glute gains.

Most people are told to move more, stretch more, improve mobility.

But no one tells you when that mobility becomes the problem.

You’re training consistently.
You’re doing glute exercises.
But you feel your lower back more than your glutes.

That’s not a strength issue.
That’s a control issue.

When your spine moves too much during lower body exercises, your glutes stop doing the job they’re supposed to do.

Instead of producing force through the hips, your body finds an easier path:
👉 your lower back takes over

And over time, this becomes your default pattern.

You think you’re training glutes.
But you’re reinforcing compensation.

If this concept feels abstract, this is exactly where most people get it wrong.

I break this down step by step here so you can actually see what’s happening:

The goal is not to remove movement.

The goal is to control it.

Because strong positions create strong muscles.

And without control, more range just means more places to lose tension.

Instead of chasing more mobility, start asking:

- Can I keep my ribs controlled?
- Can I stabilize my pelvis?
- Can I create tension where it actually matters?

Because glutes don’t grow from doing more.

They grow from doing things properly.

This is where most people get stuck.

They keep doing more, but without structure, nothing actually improves.
