Rear Delts Without Neck Tension

Rear Delts Without Neck Tension

Rear delts are one of the most misunderstood areas to train.

Not because the exercise is complicated.

But because most people are using the wrong muscles to do it.

You set up for a rear delt movement.
You start pulling.
And almost immediately, you feel it in your neck.

Not your rear delts.

That’s not a weakness problem.

That’s a control problem.

Because your body will always use what it can access most easily.

And for most people, that’s:
👉 upper traps
👉 neck tension
👉 compensation patterns

So even when the exercise looks right…

The outcome is wrong.

If you want to actually see what’s happening and how to fix it, I break it down step by step here:

The goal is not just to “pull the weight back”.

The goal is to create tension where it’s supposed to be.

And that starts with position.

If your shoulders elevate…
If your neck tightens…
If your upper traps dominate…

Then your rear delts never fully engage.

Instead, start focusing on:

- Keeping the shoulders controlled, not shrugged
- Letting the movement come from the shoulder joint, not the neck
- Controlling the path of the weight, not just completing the rep

Because rear delts don’t need more weight.

They need better access.

And access comes from:
👉 awareness
👉 positioning
👉 control

This is why so many people “train” rear delts for years…
and never actually develop them.

They’re doing the movement.

But not using the muscle.

This is not about finding a better exercise.

It’s about performing the exercise better.

And this is where most programs fall short.

They give you movements.

But they don’t teach you how to use them.

Inside activeX, this is exactly how we coach.

Not just:
“do this exercise”

But:
👉 what should be working
👉 what should not be taking over
👉 how to adjust when it goes wrong

So you’re not just moving.

You’re training with intention.

👉 If you’ve ever felt your neck more than your rear delts, this is why.

And once you fix that, everything changes.

If you want to understand how to actually train for results instead of just repeating exercises, read this:

👉 If you’ve been training but not seeing results, this is where you change that.

Inside activeX, you’re not just following workouts.
You’re learning how to train with structure, control, and progression.

This is how I coach my private clients, now built into a system you can follow anywhere.
